As Parliament resumes this autumn, Minister LeBlanc’s Major Projects Office is proposing dangerous shortcuts to bypass environmental reviews and weaken protections for species at risk… putting species up for extinction in the name of progress. Over 26,000 Canadians spoke up this summer to reject the idea that nature protection gets in the way of progress. Healthy forests, clean rivers, and wetlands are the foundation of our economy and daily well-being. Smart development works with nature, not against it. By using an "avoid-first" approach (mitigation hierarchy) preventing harm before it happens, we can create economic certainty and protect habitats for all species, including humans! This October, at Nature On The Hill, over 70 nature groups are gathering on Parliament Hill to meet directly with MPs, Ministers and Senators to make sure they know that A Canada Worth Building Puts Nature Up Front! But we need your voice to echo our call because this could shape Canada for generations. The Extinction Agenda needs to be dropped by Minister LeBlanc and the Liberal Government. He needs to stop selectively making species extinction a part of building Canada.
