Tell the City of Winnipeg not to remove their bird-friendly window bylaw!

A Backwards Move for Bird Protection.

Canada’s iconic prairie birds are at risk of extinction. You can stop this trend in Winnipeg with proven action to prevent bird-window collisions.

The City of Winnipeg wants to “delete” their bird-friendly window requirements (originally passed less than a year ago) for a variety of their major corridors downtown.

  • Industry says “cost is too high” and is lobbying to reverse these bylaws.
  • FLAP Canada estimates less than 1% price increase when bird-friendly design is implemented prior to permitting and construction start.
  • Environment and Climate Change Canada estimates between 16 million and 42 million migratory birds die in Canada per year due to window collisions.
  • Studies show that window-collision mitigation products can reduce fatal window strikes by up to 95%.
