Across the traditional and unceded territory of the Wabanaki Confederacy in Atlantic Canada, Indigenous, environmental non-profits, municipalities, and others have been working to protect and conserve nature. Species at-risk and their habitats contribute countless environmental and economic benefits to residents and visitors to Atlantic Canada from managing stormwater to supporting resource-dependent livelihoods (e.g. fishing, eco-tourism), to providing a sense of place and local pride to residents.
The Government of Canada has invested significant funding in our region since 2019 to help us collect data, restore habitats, and educate the next generation. With new challenges and priorities emerging at the national level, we need to make sure our Government remains committed to supporting nature conservation in Atlantic Canada not just for wildlife, but for our own well-being, livelihoods and security.
Send a letter to your MP using the template below to speak up for nature and ensure species at-risk conservation in Atlantic Canada continues to be a focus for our government representatives for years to come.
We’ll CC the Minister of Environment and Climate Change too!
