Youth, nature, and the economy are closely linked. Providing young people with opportunities in the conservation sector goes beyond just finding jobs — it’s about empowering communities, safeguarding our ecosystems, and building a future that values diversity and inclusion.
Since launching in 2021, Nature Canada’s Work to Grow program has offered over 450 placements with more than 140 Nature Network partners across Canada, opening doors for many Black, Indigenous and other racialized youth to pursue meaningful work in nature and conservation.
This fall, we’re launching a letter-writing campaign to advocate for even more opportunities. We’re asking government leaders to continue funding the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) and Parks Canada’s youth employment programs to ensure these career-building opportunities reach as many young people as possible.
