Canada needs a Biodiversity Action Plan with TEETH!

Canada needs a strong National Biodiversity Strategy and a Nature Accountability Act… this year. Tell your MP that saving nature matters to you!

About this
initiative

Global biodiversity is collapsing, resulting in the greatest mass extinction since the dinosaurs. Species populations have plummeted by nearly 70% in the last 50 years.

Canadian wildlife needs your voice, like never before.

Canada promised to help halt and reverse global biodiversity loss by 2030.

This spring, Nature Canada’s Nature on the Hill event will bring together caring Canadians like you (representing over 1,200 nature groups in our Nature Network) on Parliament Hill to be a voice for nature.

To support our call to protect nature, you can send a letter to your MP calling for

  • A strong National Biodiversity Strategy that is enforceable, equitable, and fully-funded.
  • A Nature Accountability Act to ensure that the Strategy goals are met.

Together these initiatives will ensure that we protect 30 per cent of land and water by 2030, that we support Indigenous leadership, and that we fight climate change by protecting carbon-rich ecosystems.

Nature on the Hill 2024 is a critical opportunity for nature-lovers like you to let your local MP know how important it is that we deliver on Canada’s bold promises to protect and restore nature.

Now, we all need to tell the Canadian government that it needs to deliver the Biodiversity  Strategy and accountability legislation that it promised.

You can join the movement to save nature by sending your MP a letter calling for a National Biodiversity Strategy and accountability legislation by the end of this year. Time is running out. We need your voice!

(We’ll CC the Prime Minister, Environment Minister, and Oceans Minister, too)
